CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A 62-year-old Cape Girardeau man is accused of hitting another man with a metal baseball bat.

John F. Knoch was arrested on assault second-degree and armed criminal action charges in connection with an assault investigation in Cape Girardeau.

He is being held in the Cape Girardeau County Jail on $50,000 cash bond.

Knoch was scheduled to go before a judge at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25.

According to police, officers were called around 7:40 a.m. to the 700 block of North Main Street on Friday, Aug. 22, to a report of an assault.

In court documents, the victim told officers he was walking down the street when Knoch came up from behind him and hit him in the right arm with a baseball bat.
