PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Maryvale High School students went back to in-person classes on Monday, less than a week after a classmate was stabbed to death on campus .

Sixteen-year-old Michael Montoya II died after police say classmate Chris Aguilar, also 16, attacked him with a 4-inch pocketknife last Tuesday.

Maryvale High School was quickly placed on lockdown, and students had been learning virtually since the incident.

Phoenix Union High School District officials said they will have resources available for students returning to class, but the district has not shared what those are.
