NILES Drivers along two heavily traveled roads in Niles can expect some traffic lane restrictions for the next three weeks as railroad bridges get makeovers as part of a bike trail expansion project.

Starting today, traffic is restricted on Main Street, from Robbins Avenue to Federal Street, and on Robbins Avenue, from Main Street to Vienna Avenue. The restrictions are in place for bridge painting associated with the Niles-Greenway Bike Trail Phase IV expansion.

Officials are advising motorists to use caution while traveling near the construction zone and to anticipate delays.

The bridges, which were last painted in the 1980s, are part of a project estimated to cost $400,000. According to Niles Mayor Steve Mientkiewicz, the funding includes $300,000 from the state, $75,000 from Trumbu
