A house fire in Warren County forced five people from their home on Sunday night.

Warren County fire and rescue crews were dispatched to a reported garage fire on Figgins Road just before 9:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

The on-duty battalion chief arrived in less than five minutes and reported fire throughout the garage and the blaze spreading into the house. Shortly after the battalion chief’s arrival, the fire breached the roof system.

Firefighters took a defensive position and attempted to put out the blaze from outside the house before entering the structure to attack the fire, the release states. Personnel supplied water to the scene by using a dry hydrant at the Front Royal-Warren County Airport.
