PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Police Chief Eric Echevarria is calling on male role models to gather Monday morning at Manual High School, the scene of two shooting incidents last week.

Echevarria released a statement Sunday evening asking “every father, grandfather, uncle, mentor, guardian and role model” in Peoria to show up in front of the school Monday at 6:45 a.m. to greet students when they arrive.

“Stand with me. Show up with me. Be present for our kids,” said Echevarria.

“I will be there along with members of my command staff and other officers of the Peoria Police Department to greet students as they arrive. We want them to see and feel that their community stands behind them, strong and united,” said the chief.
