A man has died after suffering a medical episode in Asda after heroic shoppers were seen trying to save him.

Devon and Cornwall Police was called by the ambulance service to the store in Paignton, South Devon on Sunday at around 11.20am.

The shopper, who was understood to be on holiday in the area, was grabbing a trolley after entering the store when he collapsed . He then suffered a seizure, reports say. Before paramedics could arrive , shoppers and members of staff from Asda carried out CPR. Despite their best efforts, he couldn't be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Devon Live.

On the Spotted Paignton Facebook group, the driver who had just dropped him off at Asda minutes before he died posted: "To all those who helped the man who sadly passed away
