New York woman killed in hit-and-run along West Broad Street

Henrico police are investigating the death of a woman Friday night in an apparent hit-and-run along West Broad Street.

Officers responded at 10:40 p.m. to the scene near the intersection of West Broad Street and Emerywood Parkway, just west of Glenside Drive. Upon arrival, they found Tasha Baker, 39, of New York, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe that Baker was crossing West Broad Street when she was struck by a vehicle. Police said she had been living in Henrico County for some time, but did not have a permanent address there.

While first responders were securing the scene, there was a second hit-and-run, which resulted in a pursuit. Officers initially thought that the driver in the second incident was the same as the first, which is why the pursuit ensued
