A Richmond man died at a local hospital Sunday after being shot in the city's North Side early Saturday.

At 6:48 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a reported shooting in the 3400 block of Chamberlayne Avenue, which is near the intersection with Westwood Avenue. Officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in a residence.

The victim, Gilbert DeJesus III, 33, of Richmond, was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries Sunday.
