Diosdado Cabello, Vice President of the Policy, Citizen Security, and Peace Sector, stated this Monday that 87% of the drugs produced in Colombia leave through the Pacific, citing figures from a United Nations report.
Speaking to the press, he emphasized that "this is a reality of that report, that the largest amount of drugs is produced in Colombian territory (...) According to this, Colombia produces 1.670 tons of cocaine and 450 tons of marijuana, for an approximate total of 2.120 tons of drugs. Eighty-seven percent of the drugs produced in Colombia leave via the Pacific."
"Specifically, it is exported most heavily through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru," he said, adding that 87% of the total, equivalent to 1.845 tons, goes to major consumers, especially the United States.
