ISLE OF PALMS — During the torrential storms that brought record-breaking rainfall to the area, one motorist drove into a waterway Aug. 23, prompting quick rescue initiatives from bystanders.

The Isle of Palms Police Department posted the rescue to social media platform X days later. The driver was reportedly working for a rideshare service at the time.

In the video, rain pounds the surface of Morgan Creek at the base of the Isle of Palms Marina boat ramp just after 9 p.m. The flat, paved parking lot on 41st Avenue leads to the ramp.
