FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — An active shooter was reported at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (U of A) around 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 25, according to a U of A alert system. Authorities said no gunshots or injuries have been confirmed.

"It's looking like it was another swatting or hoax call," U of A Police Department Assistant Chief Matt Mills said during a press conference at around 4 p.m.

"We received 308 landline phone calls and 38 911 calls that covered 7 different buildings on campus, all reporting either a suspect or shots fired," Mill said.

The locations included Mullins Library, 1021 Food Hall, the Windgate Art and Design District, Pat Walker Health Center, Fine Arts Center, Old Main, and Humphreys Hall.
