Thompson Burton partner Phillip Young has been appointed as the receiver for Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey related to its lawsuit involving lender claims it owes more than $100 million related to alleged loan defaults.

According to a release, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee made the selection after having ruled with both Farm Credit Mid-America (the plaintiff) and the defendants (Shelbyville-based Uncle Nearest Inc., Nearest Green Distillery, Uncle Nearest Real Estate Holdings LLC, Fawn Weaver and Keith Weaver) were to have submitte candidates no later than Aug. 20.
Judge Charles Atchley issued his ruling in mid-August in favor of Farm Credit Mid-America, noting there are multiple reasons a receiver is needed.
