MONTPELIER, Vt (WCAX) - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott has requested a federal Major Disaster Declaration for this summer’s flooding.

It would cover Caledonia and Essex counties, to help recover 75% of the repair costs for public infrastructure that was damaged in the July 10 flooding.

The governor’s office says federal assessors identified $1.8 million in damages, $1 million of that in the town of Sutton alone.
