The number of passengers going through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport declined slightly during the first half of 2025 versus the same time in 2024, a rare occurrence for the airport.
Though there have been several years of only slight year-over-year passenger growth in January through June, there have only been three other instances in the past 20 years of decreased travel: 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and 2008 and 2009, during the Great Recession.
Three other years in the past two decades — 2016, 2013 and 2012 — saw slight passenger increases in the first half of the year but finished the year with slight decreases from the year prior.
In 2025 there were 26.4 million travelers coming through Sky Harbor in January through June, down 0.74% from 2024.
