CROWN POINT — A Crown Point woman was sentenced Friday to 3 ½ years in jail, all to be suspended to probation, in a drunk driving crash that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man in 2020, court records show.

Christian Garza, 30, was found guilty after jury trial in June of felony operating while intoxicated endangering a person under 18 and neglect of a dependent, plus three misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated. However, she was found not guilty on two felony counts of causing death while operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing serious bodily injury while operating while intoxicated — both of which she faced in the death of Andreas Ramos, whom she told investigators she thought was a deer when she struck him shortly after midnight on Jan. 19,
