PORTLAND, Oregon — Four homes and several outbuildings have been lost to the Flat Fire since it sparked Thursday afternoon , just northeast of Sisters. The fire continues to burn at nearly 22,000 acres, with 5% containment, and it threatens 3,938 homes.

More than 1,000 people remain under evacuation orders, with firefighters making significant progress overnight in some sections due to slightly cooler temperatures, the Flat Fire official Facebook page said.

"Our thoughts are with those impacted," officials said. "While any loss is difficult, hundreds of homes in the fire’s path remain standing – reflecting both the preparation property owners put into creating defensible space and the coordinated aggressive suppression efforts."
