The Secretary General of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, said that "certainly, the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago are not proud of their leaders for taking shameful positions."

Diosdado Cabello made this statement when asked about statements by Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad, who stated that if Venezuela launches "any attack against the people of Guyana and the US government, and the US requests access to the territory of Trinidad and Tobago, it will be granted without hesitation."

In this regard, Cabello clarified that "Venezuela is not attacking anyone, and what is clear is that the sun of Venezuela rises in the Essequibo, and that is not up for discussion with anyone; call it Trinidad, call it whoever. We are the ones being attacked,
