BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A man was found beaten to death in a Downtown Brooklyn apartment complex that rents rooms, according to police and sources.

A security guard found the victim unconscious in a room in the building at 90 Sands St. near Jay Street just before 6 a.m. Monday, according to police and sources.

The unidentified man, believed to be in his 40s, had a severe head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

It was unclear if the man lived in the complex or was visiting someone.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
