NEW YORK (PIX11) – NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch told U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi on Monday that the National Guard is not needed in New York City, according to reports.

Outlets reported that in a 30-minute meeting held at One Police Plaza, Tisch told Bondi that the NYPD has crime under control – citing lower crime numbers, including declining gun violence.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Monday allowing Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth to bulk up each state’s National Guard with specifically trained units equipped to deal with public order. The National Guard is being used in Washington, D.C., with 2,200 armed forces visible near national monuments and train stations.
