ATLANTA — A rare dual heart-liver transplant was recently performed at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital, the health network said in a release.

Piedmont said it was the first time such a procedure was performed at the hospital, and just the second ever performed in Georgia. Only about 50 overall have ever been performed in the Southeast, Piedmont said.

“High-quality care for patients in both end-stage liver and heart failure must be multidisciplinary.
