CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) -- A Johnstown woman is facing fraud charges after allegedly attempting to alter a jewelry store receipt in order to obtain payment.

Christy Orie, 48, was charged after the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (OAG), Insurance Fraud Section, was referred the case. The OAG had found that Orie allegedly filed multiple lost/stolen jewelry claims from September 2022 through May 2024, according to the criminal complaint.

On March 4, 2024, specifically, Orie allegedly filed a claim for a missing yellow gold tennis bracelet, which she was paid $2,500 for. Orie then located the bracelet and repaid the insurance company $1,250 to settle the previous claim.
