Investigation into Taylor community center fire is complete

TAYLOR, Texas — Editor's note: The original version of this article incorrectly stated that the fire was caused deliberately. According to the Taylor Fire Department, the exact cause of the fire has not been determined.

The investigation into a fire that destroyed the Old Dickey-Givens Community Center in June has concluded, city officials announced Monday.

The cause of the June 29 fire remains undetermined, though investigators believe human activity likely played a role. The specific circumstances, however, remain unknown.

The Taylor Fire Department and Hutto Fire/Rescue responded to the blaze. Although crews were able to bring the fire under control, the building was declared a total loss.
