GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - School buses and cars filled the roads for the first day of school in Pitt County, and with the busier roads, Greenville police were out near schools, making sure everyone was following the speed limits and rules.

Driving the speed limit is important, especially in a school zone, and on Monday, near the bustling Arlington Boulevard outside of JH Rose High School, sat Greenville police looking to keep everything in check.

“We’re out here and we’re enforcing those speed limit laws,” Major Michael Montanye said.

Officers were stationed across Pitt County schools with their radar guns, ensuring drivers maintained the school zone speed limit.
