BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Just days before 18-year-old Christopher “Howie” Wilks was set to begin his senior year at Boyd County High School, he tragically lost his life in a car accident.

That crash happened at the intersection of Whites Creek Road and Friendship Road in Boyd County.

“It feels unfair to be alive and they can’t,” said senior and classmate Juliana Black.

The Boyd County Coroner’s office said the car left the road and rolled multiple times before coming to a stop in a field. Officials also shared that he was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from his car.

“There’s just no words to explain it. It’s just such a tragedy. One day, you’re on the road like, ‘Oh, I start my senior year on Wednesday,’ and then just - bam. It’s done,” Black said.
