SANTA FE, N.M. —
Four suspects accused of assaulting a 71-year-old man in Santa Fe last Sunday remain at large, with police stating the incident began over a perceived look from the victim's grandson.
The altercation occurred on San Francisco Street, where the suspects reportedly approached a 29-year-old man and his grandfather. Police said the suspects did not like the way the younger man was looking at them, leading to a brief exchange of words followed by punches.
The grandfather attempted to intervene but was knocked unconscious, suffering a cervical spinal fracture. His grandson was left with blood dripping down his face.
"He’s doing better [the grandfather]. I can’t give too much details, but he is doing better," Jimmie Montoya, a captain with the Santa Fe Police Department, said
