It was clear something was up with the unkempt, muttering woman in the pink winter coat pushing a full black shopping cart down Dundas Street on a bright June day.
“She was going off. She was swearing. She was saying all this stuff, but as she made eye contact with me she said, ‘Don’t mess with me, b—h, Don’t f— with me’,” said victim Ashley DaRosa, 21, at the Ontario Court of Justice trial of Genevieve Reed.
Minutes later, during a brief verbal confrontation with the belligerent homeless woman at Dundas and Maitland streets, Reed, 47, would rush at DaRosa and swing at her twice, first knocking a pizza slice out of her hand, then stabbing DaRosa in the right temple with a ball-point pen on June 18, 2023.
