London police briefly shut down Western University ’s Weldon Library on Monday afternoon after receiving what they said was a “weapons call”.

Police said they received a single report of a “weapons call” shortly before 3 p.m. at the library on Western’s campus at 1151 Richmond St.

Officers responded immediately, closing the building while they investigated, police said.

The library was later reopened, but police said they are still looking into the circumstances of the call.

No injuries were reported and investigators say there is no risk to public safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact London police at (519) 661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
