Quarterback Bryce Underwood has been the focal point of Michigan’s fall camp, but he’s not the only freshman set to start for the Wolverines to open the 2025 season.
Speaking to reporters Monday, head coach Sherrone Moore said receiver Andrew Marsh will begin the year as the team’s starting kick returner. The 6-foot, 190-pounder was one of the Wolverines’ highest-ranked recruits in the 2025 class at No. 117 overall and their top-rated receiver since Donovan Peoples-Jones in 2017.
As a senior at Katy Jordan High in Fulshear, Texas, Marsh returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown in the team’s season-opener. Returns aren’t as prevalent at the college and NFL levels since moving kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35, but a timely big return can still swing momentum in a game.
