ANN ARBOR — Michigan added a pair of veteran transfer quarterbacks this offseason, but two inexperienced youngsters are atop the depth chart to start the season.

The biggest news from head coach Sherrone Moore on Monday was that freshman Bryce Underwood will be Michigan’s starting quarterback for Saturday’s opener at New Mexico. He also revealed the second-string QB: Jadyn Davis.

Moore said Davis had “taken the next steps” required to earn the backup job. “Just his execution throughout camp of what he did on a day-to-day basis,” Moore said. “Not only how he studied and how he prepared, but how he practiced and the things that he did, the plays that he made in practice consistently.
