TRUSSVILLE, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is announcing that crews have made enough progress to be able to reopen the closed ramps at Exit 141 in Trussville.

The southbound Chalkville Mountain Road ramps off Interstate-59 will be opened after the morning rush hour on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

The ramps were closed in early July as part of a larger project ; the 3.8 mile widening of I-59 between Exit 141 and Edwards Lake Road on Insterstate-459.

According to ALDOT, the contractor Wiregrass Construction was given a 40-day incentivized goal to reopen the ramps by Aug. 29, a goal they will beat by three days.

ALDOT says the widened three-lane configuration of I-59 southbound itself should be open to the traffic by the Thanksgiving holiday .
