HOMEWOOD, Ala. (WIAT) -- A public meeting in Homewood was held Monday evening about redevelopment plans for a neighborhood grocery store.

The city council passed an amended ordinance greenlighting a plan to refurbish the Piggly Wiggly on Highway 31. The plan aims to make it easier for customers to get in and out.

"We're adding, almost doubling the amount of parking spots, so we're excited about that," said Homewood City Council President Walter Jones. "So people will be able to park safely, and children will be able to have a little green space there. We always want to try to add a little green space if we can do that."
