PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thousands of people are without power across the state as a strong monsoon swept across much of the Valley and Pinal County.

The Salt River Project (SRP) is reporting more than 26,400 customers lost power . The major outages are in the Chandler-Gilbert areas, near the Glendale-Peoria border, near Tolleson and the South Mountain area of Phoenix.

Arizona Public Service (APS) is reporting at least 9,200 customers across the state without power. The largest outages are happening in Buckeye and central Phoenix.

Driving conditions heading into the late-night hours may be hazardous. It is important to pull aside and turn your hazard lights on when visibility is extremely limited.
