PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thousands of people are without power across the state after a strong monsoon swept across much of the Valley and Pinal County on Monday evening.

The Salt River Project (SRP) is reported to have as many as 54,000 customers without power at the height of the storm in the Phoenix area. The major outages were in the Chandler-Gilbert areas, near the Glendale-Peoria border, near Tolleson and the South Mountain area of Phoenix. As of 9:15 p.m., it’s down to about 10,000.

Arizona Public Service (APS) had up to 12,000 customers without electricity when the storm was at its most powerful. The largest outages were in Buckeye and central Phoenix. As of 9:15 p.m., the outages were at 3,800 customers.
