Sam Syverson, a senior on the Glacier High golf team, made a hole-in-one at Village Greens on Aug. 10.

Syverson used a gap wedge to ace the 115-yard fifth hole. Witnessing the shot were Luke Nelson, Cheryl Ashe and Jeff Ashe.

Lamson named Cats’ starting QB

Justin Lamson, the graduate transfer from Stanford, was named the starting quarterback for the Montana State Bobcats on Monday.

The Bobcats released their two-deep ahead of their season opener at Oregon, which is at 2 p.m. Mountain on the Big 10 Network.

Last fall Lamson rushed for eight touchdowns for the Cardinal, breaking the school’s single-season record for a quarterback. Jim Plunkett and Kevin Hogan shared the old record of six. Lamson also was 27 of 47 passing for 300 yards and four scores, playing in all 12 games with one st
