MARIPOSA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Mariposa Elementary School was placed on lockdown during students' first week back after a false bomb threat.

The sheriff's office says they were called to campus before the first bell on Friday morning for a student with a potential “bomb.”

The school made the decision to go into lockdown out of an abundance of caution, but after investigation, it was determined there was no credible threat to students or staff.

The school says the student in question "had a solar panel with a wire and told other students it was a bomb."
