A drug courier sobbed as a judge spared her an immediate jail sentence despite being caught with more than 30 kilos of cannabis stuffed inside two suitcases at Manchester Airport .

Kiala Wyles, 22, was given a free holiday to Thailand and was promised £10,000 to transport the drugs from the far east. But she was caught red-handed by Border Force officials when she stepped off a flight at Manchester Airport on July 24 this year.

She sobbed uncontrollably in the dock at Manchester Crown Court on Friday when a judge spared her an immediate jail term after hearing about her troubled childhood.

Wyles, a care home worker from Stirling in Scotland, had flown out of Edinburgh Airport and enjoyed three weeks in Thailand before flying into Manchester Airport via Dubai, prosecutor Caitlin Stil
