Illinois Leaders United Against Proposed National Guard Deployment

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson held a joint press conference on Monday to push back against President Donald Trump’s suggestion of deploying the National Guard to Chicago to address crime.

The move follows the president’s recent deployment of federal troops to Washington, D.C. on August 11.

Surrounded by a coalition of Chicago leaders, including representatives from the business community, faith organizations, and law enforcement, Governor Pritzker delivered a forceful message directly to the president.
