Thursday will technically be game No. 2 for Heinrich Haarberg as a tight end. The Nebraska senior considers it more like his first.

The last and only time Haarberg lined up anywhere other than quarterback was the bowl game in December. Back then, he was a few weeks into a position switch.

The opener against Cincinnati is a new beginning.

“It’s going to be exciting,” Haarberg said Monday. “I can’t wait to show the work I put in.”

NU offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen said the Huskers are at a point where practices won’t reveal much more until they play an actual game. That describes Haarberg, who will put an offseason of new technique and different training to the test inside Arrowhead Stadium.
