Plans to redevelop the site of a formerly prominent building in the downtown Sarasota skyline did not gain initial approval in its recent trip before the city's development review panel.

The Zenith Redevelopment project application for overhauling the 1.18-acre property with an 18-story building in place of the Zenith Insurance headquarters in downtown Sarasota did not get the OK from the Development Review Committee during its Aug. 20 meeting.
