Ilove youth sports. From the rush to get out of the house to the car ride home filled with stories from the field, watching my kids compete is one of the best parts of being a parent.

The rest of what is in this piece is as much for me as it is for other parents. As much as I love youth sports, I have noticed something that does not sit right. The stress. The burnout. The overscheduling. Games meant to be fun now carry the weight of something much bigger, and it is not just the kids feeling it. Parents are feeling it, too. Somewhere along the way, youth sports shifted from play to performance, from fun to proving worth and chasing scholarships. Opinion: A curfew won't save Indianapolis teens. Investment in them will.
