PALMYRA, Maine — A monthslong poaching investigation in central Maine led to 31 summonses, four deer seizures, and the recovery of stolen hunting equipment, according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

Wardens began investigating in November 2024 after receiving a tip that a man had allegedly shot a deer at night over bait on a Sunday in the Palmyra area, officials said. Warden Isaiah Dyer and a team of game wardens corroborated the report and uncovered evidence that multiple deer had been illegally killed.
