LA PLATA, Mo. —

A Maine man who U.S. Marshals say faked his own death and then avoided law enforcement for over a year has been arrested in Missouri.

It was initially believed he may have drowned and more than 15 Game Wardens and dozens of volunteers helped search for days.

After further investigation, Marshals say, though it was made to look like a possible drowning, it was determined that Heimann was not dead and his disappearance was ruled suspicious.
