LIVINGSTON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - As inmates look forward to their eventual release from jail or prison, one of the many challenges they face upon reentering society is digital literacy.
To help bridge that gap, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office is now offering a digital literacy course designed to support inmates in their transition back into the community.
The program teaches basic computer skills, including how to navigate a computer, open and close tabs, and manage emails.
While these tasks may be second nature to many, for some inmates, it’s an entirely new experience.
“Before I just had a smartphone, so I knew how to do Facebook, and just Google something here and there,” said Daniel Babbitt, an inmate at the Livingston County Jail.
