In pondering Montana State's opener at seventh-ranked Oregon Saturday, my mind drifts back to last August.
Those mighty Ducks had their hands full at home against an Idaho team that finished third in the Big Sky Conference. Oregon's lead was a measly three points with six minutes left and the Ducks escaped with a 24-14 victory.
Considering Montana State won the Big Sky last year and reached the FCS title game, Oregon is in for an even tougher FCS test Saturday afternoon, right? After all, the Ducks lost their star quarterback, Dillon Gabriel, who is now battling for playing time for the Cleveland Browns behind Joe Flacco.
