DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is joining attorneys general from 44 other states to demand that companies stop predatory artificial intelligence (AI) interactions with children.
The group of attorneys sent a letter to several major companies, including Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Open AI.
In the letter, the attorneys general address concerns about AI chatbots reportedly engaging in sexually inappropriate conversations with kids. The letter also warns against AI encouraging harmful behavior in teenagers, such as suicide and murder.
According to a release from the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, some AI chatbots “flirt and engage in romantic roleplay with children,” as young as eight years old.
“Sexualizing children is never okay,” said Attorney Gener
