The Constitutional Court of South Africa has dismissed an application by the family of former Zambian President Edgar Lungu to review a dispute between the family and the Zambian government over his burial site.

In its ruling, the court stated that the Lungu family had failed to provide sufficient grounds for their application and therefore dismissed it.

As a result, an earlier ruling by the High Court in Pretoria — which ordered that Lungu’s body be buried in Zambia — remains in effect.

The case will now return to the High Court in Pretoria, where it was adjourned last month.

The Lungu family has been calling for an expedited trial to ensure the timely interment of the late former president.
