CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. ( WWSB ) – One person was hospitalized after a house fire that occurred in Port Charlotte on August 25.
Charlotte County Public Safety said crews were dispatched to the corner of Oswego Street and Riverhead Avenue on Monday after a caller reported hearing crackling and seeing black smoke around 3:24 p.m.
Charlotte County Fire & EMS arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke coming from the home.

One person had reportedly been taken to the hospital, and two others declined medical treatment, county officials said.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental, caused by smoking.
