LAKEWOOD, Ohio -- Any excitement about the return of Lakewood Ranger high school football was marred by a lighting issue last Friday at First Federal Lakewood Stadium.
“With about two minutes left in the third quarter, a breaker blew,” Lakewood City Schools Athletic Director Robert D. Slone said.
“When maintenance went up to reset the breaker, we think a transformer blew in the back of the board. Sparks went out and the whole home side bleachers’ light banks went dark.”
At that point, the score was Lakewood 45, John Marshall 20, with both coaches agreeing with officials to call it a complete game without playing the fourth quarter.
Slone said Lincoln Electric arrived on site Saturday to explore the issue.
