STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – A man is dead after he touched a power line and was electrocuted in Sterling Heights.

According to WXYZ-TV , the 41-year-old landscaper from Grosse Pointe Park was working on a mechanical lift near Metropolitan Parkway and Mound Road around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.

The victim was unconscious in the air on the mechanical lift when police arrived. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died, according to the TV station.

DTE Energy confirmed his death in a statement.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time. DTE will work closely with officials as the investigation continues into this event,” it said.
