A Canadian has slammed the "hypocrisy" of Emmerdale viewers after they were left horrified by the depiction of animal cruelty on last night's programmed.

In last night's "disturbing" episode of telly, serial killer John Sugden, played by Oliver Farnworth, was hunting deer in the woods with a bow and arrow. Viewers watched as John fired a shot towards a pair of wild deer.

The impact wasn't shown so it's unclear whether he hit or missed any of the animals. The scene mirrors how John hunts down Mackenzie Boyd before killing him. The ITV soap fans took to social media to vent their frustrations over the scene.
